(Janneth) Gonzalez.  Dear brother to Amalia Gonzalez (Silvestre Gonzalez), Manuela Gonzalez (Pascual Cordova), Justino Gonzalez (Maria Cordova), Faustina Gonzalez (Adolfo Escamilla), Antonia Gonzalez (Juan Ruiz), Hermelinda Gonzalez (Albino), and Nensia Gonzalez (Juan Ruiz).  And dear brother in law to Pete Ruiz (Madeline ), Gloria Kogler (Alan ), Virginia Douglas( James), Olga Ruiz, John Ruiz(Debbie ), Frank Ruiz (Patricia), Cindy Ruiz (Martin Contreras), Nancy Gómez (Mauro), and Brian Ruiz.  Fond uncle to many.

Peter Ristau

Peter Ristau age 85 former resident of the Chicago’s East Side and then longtime resident of Crete, Illinois passed away on December 1, 2023  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno Ristau and Anita (nee Halbeck) Cooley, his brothers Jurgen Ristau and John Cooley, and his granddaughter Emily Ristau.

He was born in Berlin, Germany in June of 1938 and found the love of his life MaryAnn (nee Ster) shortly after arriving to the United States. They were happily married for 65 years.  He was loving father to Susan (Donald) Dixon, Peter A. (Denise) Ristau, Karen (James) Petrassi, Michael (Leslie) Ristau, Amy (Todd) Gatzke and Erich (Cindy Updyke) Ristau. His children held a special place in his heart. Peter was proud grandfather to Peter Jr., Jessica, Donald Jr., Andrew, Ashlie, Alexandria, Danielle, Dominique, Ty, John Peter, Michaella, Katie, and LeAnne. He felt blessed to be called Great Grandpa by Autumn, Cameron, Reese, Rhett, Calvin, Carter, Iris, Evelynn, Mia, Aubrie, Adam, Madison – with one on the way.
Peter was a hard worker and passionate about his role as a Tool & Die supervisor at the Ford Stamping Plant for 35 years. He served proudly in the Air Force Reserves. Peter was an active member at the East Side United Methodist Church and worked closely with the youth group. He was very creative and enjoyed painting and gardening. Peter loved cars and you could find him tinkering in the garage often.  If he wasn’t working on a car, he would enjoy attending car shows.  Peter was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan.
He will be missed dearly but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Dennis was a crane operator for Ford Motor and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  Donations can be made in Dennis’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church in Crete, Illinois or Lightway Hospice in Joliet, Illinois.

Streib age 92 longtime resident of Steger, Illinois passed away on November 30, 2023.  Beautiful son to the late Fred and the late Helen (nee Oldendorf) Streib born on September 1, 1931.  Beloved brother to the late Leona (late Tom) Donnelly, Lucille (Ron) Davis and Rose Ann (late Charles) Batterman.  Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Step daughter Charlotte (Donald) Rosetti; granddaughter Jennifer Lacer and grandson Wade Pawlicki; three great grandsons.  Loving husband of 40 years to the late Lucile (nee Hamm) 2007.    Leonard was the owner for over 40 years of AAA Services, member of the Chicago Heights VFW, member of Zion Lutheran Church and served in the U.S. Navy.  In lieu of flowers donations in Leonard name can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Crete, Illinois.

On July 4, 2005 the new Steger Funeral Home was opened, located at 125 E. Steger Road (34th St.) in Steger, Illinois. Steger residents now have a choice in funeral homes.

 

This is a beautiful, modern facility with everything on the main level. No stairs here and there’s easy handicap access. As you enter Steger Funeral Home you’ll be greeted by a lovely seating area with a fireplace and a fully restored genuine Steger Grand Piano, built right here in Steger in the 1890’s.

 

We strive to serve only one family at a time at this location and will do our best to ensure you have the entire facility to yourself. The visitation chapel includes a 42” monitor to display your complimentary DVD. You will not be disappointed with this facility.
