James Baranski age 73, lifetime resident of Crete, Illinois.  Loving husband of Jeanne (nee Maulin) and 1st wife late Barbara (Painter) 2004.  Beloved father to Joe (Shiela) Baranski, Jeff Baranski, Brian (Lisa) Baranski and Julie Baranski.   Cherished grandfather to 10.  Beautiful brother to Dennis Baranski.  Jim graduated from Crete Monee High School and Northern Illinois University.  Jim retired after 37 years as a teacher with the Crete School District.  Jim loved writing sports articles for the Southtown Star, The Vedette (Crete Monitor), was a Certified Umpire, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a fan of all sports.  Donations can be made to South Suburban Human Society, Chicago Heights or the Crete Food Pantry.

Margraff (nee Bravo) age 85 a longtime resident of South Chicago Heights, Illinois passed away on May 22, 2020.  Beloved wife to the late Walter (2002).  Loving mother to Jacquelyn Margraff (Chad) Spilde; beautiful  grandmother to Jordan Spilde and Cayden Spilde.  Cherished sister to Anthony (Sarah) Bravo and Leonora ‘Lee’ Bravo.  Dear aunt to Scott Bravo and Anthony Bravo Jr.  Josephine graduated Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, a member of St. Joseph Rosary Sodality, Polish American Community Fair, Polish Falcons 75 Club and the Polish Women’s Alliance.

Canon age 81, longtime resident of Chicago Heights, Illinois passed away on May 30, 2020.  Beloved husband to Rita (nee Coxworth) for over 60 years.  Loving father to Thomas (Sally) Canon, David (Marcy) Canon and the late Joann Mary Canon.  Cherished grandfather to Candice Canon and Josephine Canon.  Charles retired as a Master Electrician for the Local #134, 32nd Degree Mason and usher for Shriners Children’s Hospital.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or to the donor’s choice.

Marie Ann ‘Drabek’ Paz (nee Florek) age 92 of Beecher formerly of Calumet City, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2020.  Beloved wife of the late Bruno (2010) and 1st husband Chester ‘Drake’ Drabek (1980).  Loving mother to Alexandra ‘Sandy’ Urbanik, late Robert Drabek and late Jay Christopher Drabek.  Cherished Mimi to Joseph (Jenn) Urbanik and Katie (Randy) Zivkovich; proud great grandmother to Drake, Jacoby and Danica.  Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Helen (nee Brandys) Florek, brother Chester (late Theresa) and  sister to Elizabeth (late Kelly) and Bernice (late Pieo).  Dear aunt to many.  Marie belonged to St. Andrew Rosary Confraternity, Apostleship of Prayer, St. Rita’s Alter Guild, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Calumet City Historical Society, and Sunshine Lady for St. Andrews Senior.  Marie also was a very good artist, she loved to draw, write poetry, did ceramics, crochet, made blankets and loved traditions but most of all Mimi loved and enjoyed being with her family.

On July 4, 2005 the new Steger Funeral Home was opened, located at 125 E. Steger Road (34th St.) in Steger, Illinois. Steger residents now have a choice in funeral homes.

 

This is a beautiful, modern facility with everything on the main level. No stairs here and there’s easy handicap access. As you enter Steger Funeral Home you’ll be greeted by a lovely seating area with a fireplace and a fully restored genuine Steger Grand Piano, built right here in Steger in the 1890’s.

 

We strive to serve only one family at a time at this location and will do our best to ensure you have the entire facility to yourself. The visitation chapel includes a 42” monitor to display your complimentary DVD. You will not be disappointed with this facility.
