Brooke C. Allen-Alfaro age 38 of University Park, Illinois passed away on September 14, 2023.  Born on July 28th, 1985 in Harvey, Illinois to the Late Derrick Allen and Barbara (nee Dierking) Malloy. Loving husband David Alfaro; beloved mother to Kaley Alfaro, Isabella Alfaro and David Alfaro Jr.  Beautiful granddaughter to Donna (Allen) Manard & late Robert Allen and late Wayne & late Marlene Dierking.  Dear sister to Ashley Avery (Adam) Pieczynski and Alexis Lewis (Devin) Sons.  Fond in laws Daniel Alfaro,  Rebecca Villarreal and brother in law Daniel (Melissa) Alfaro Jr., Andrew Alfaro, and sister in law Viviana Alfaro.   Brooke leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Paul M. Carlos Jr., age 80, longtime resident of Crete, Illinois passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 12, 2023. He was born December 1, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Paul M. Carlos Sr. and Dorothy R. (Baker) Carlos.

Growing up Paul lived in Calumet City, IL and attended TF South High School. Paul met Elizabeth (Betty) Windauer and were married on October 9, 1965, which Paul described as “the best day of his life!”  Paul retired after 47 years of service as a UA Local 130 Plumber and worked on many iconic buildings in Chicago including:  Sears Tower, John Hancock, Wrigley Building, Tribune Towers, Northwestern Prentice Building, and the Congress Hotel. Paul finished his plumbing career working for McCormick Place.

Paul and Betty were married for 53 years during which time they traveled the world during retirement. Paul was an avid sports fan and athlete playing football, baseball, basketball, and track during his youth. He shared his love of sports with his three sons and coached their football (Crete Bulldogs) and baseball (Crete Baseball) teams. Paul was a devoted sports fan and die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

He is survived by his children:  Paul M Carlos III (Victoria) of Lawton, MI., Anthony R. Carlos (Karen) of Schaumburg, IL., Brian T. Carlos (Trang) of Bartlett, IL.; his grandchildren:  Lauren, Allison, Emily, Robert, Danny, Kelli, Kara and Nicholas; his brother Frank W. Carlos of Chicago, IL; sister Ruth M. Palis of Schererville, IN.  He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth L. Carlos.

Friends may gather with his family on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 3 – 8pm at Crete Funeral Home, 1182 Main Street, Crete, IL  60417.  His Funeral service will be held at 10 am on October 2, 2023, at St. Liborius Parish, 71 W. 35th Street, Steger, IL  60475.  Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th St, Alsip, IL  60803, following mass. Luncheon to follow at Jenny’s Grill, Chicago Ridge, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org).

Fond aunt to many nieces and nephews.  Katy will be missed by everyone that knew her.

Kenneth G. Schaefer, 83, formerly of Tinley Park, IL. and most recently residing with his daughter in Monee, IL, sadly passed away on August 11, 2023 at his daughters residence in Monee, IL. He was a kind, quiet man who really enjoyed the simple things in life; loved and respected by many.

Kenneth was born on July 30, 1940 to George Schaefer and Bernice (Paska) Schaefer. He is survived by his brother George (Mary) Schaefer and his sister Christine (Thomas) Ryan.

Kenneth retired from Andrew Corp. in 1995.  He grew up in Lincoln Estates, Frankfort, IL of where he held many fond memories. He enjoyed time spent on his computer and in previous years metal detecting. Anyone who knew him knew his love for his puppy dogs, Chloe being his most recent.

Kenneth Married Cheryl (Button) Schaefer who preceded him in death on June 16, 2016. They shared many years of love and memories together.

He had four children with Deena Lamble: James (Crystal) Schaefer, Kevin (Julie Ball) Schaefer, Greg Schaefer (late), and Kelly (Michelle) Schaefer.

He had two children with his loving wife Cheryl Schaefer: Jennifer Schaefer and Julie (Kevin Boerst) Schaefer.

He was a loving grandfather. He had a total of seven grandchildren.

He will be cremated, and following his wishes there will be no services held. In lieu of flowers, donations to organizations that support dementia and Parkinson’s research and treatment would be appreciated in his memory.

Leonard ‘Lenny’ C. Staniszewski, age 82, longtime resident of Chicago Heights, Illinois passed away on August 4, 2023.  Loving husband of 49 years to the late Betty (nee Mikos); beloved father to Stacy (Jim) Zampillo and Brian (Gina) Staniszewski. Loving “Dziadzia” to Vincent and Natalie Zampillo and Laurel, Logan, and Lily Staniszewski.  Dear brother to Joanne Veis and Robert Onik and brother-in-law to Barbara Fonfara. Cherished uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Stephanie (Repetowski) Staniszewski, and his beloved older siblings Carol, Marie, Lillian, and Henry and each of their spouses.

Lenny proudly served our country as a member of the 158th U.S. Army Band out of Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He retired after 42 years as a chemist from Sherwin Williams’ Alkali Blue division. He played in the Harmonizers polka band. And he had a lifelong love of fishing and the outdoors, which he passed along to his children and grandchildren. Lenny was a parishioner at St. Kieran Catholic Church and an active member of the Polish American Club; American Legion Post 131; and the Polish American Community Fair, where he volunteered at Tuesday Night Bingo.

Visitation is on Friday, August 11th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kerr-Parzygnot Funeral Home, 540 Dixie Hwy, Chicago Heights, IL.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, August 12th at Our Lady of the Heights Catholic Church (formerly St. Kieran), 724 W 195th Street, Chicago Heights, Illinois.
