Joseph Zawistowski age 85 of Beecher. Illinois passed away on January 19, 2020.  Born June 29, 1934 to the late Anthony and the late Hedwig (nee Osiecki) Zawistowski in Erie, PA.  Beloved husband of 49 years to the late Patricia (nee Cent) 2015.  Joe met Pat at VanderCook College of Music and married in 1965; the couple eventually settled in Beecher, Illinois.  Loving brother to Theodore (Margaret Mary) Zawistowski and Rosemarie (Frederick) Ross.  He was proceeded in death by his brothers Leonard and Thomas.  Joe leaves behind many nieces and nephews.  The spark of his life was his German Shepard, Willy, who will miss Joe profoundly.

Joe was a 1952 graduate of Erie Cathedral Prep, which prepared him for the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, were he received a Bachelor of Music degree.  He then continued his musical education by earning a Masters of Music in Education from VanderCook College of Music, Chicago, IL.  Joe was a “horn guy” playing the trumpet and most other brass instruments.  He served his country in the U.S. Army assigned to the 56th Army Band at Camp Zama, Japan.  While in Japan, Joe had the honor of performing with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Professionally Joe was a High School music teacher in Gary, Indiana, and Ojai, California.  He came to the Chicago area in order to participate in Pat’s family’s metal fabricating business, Ability Engineering Inc., in South Holland, Illinois.  He retired in 2010.  This gave him more time to dedicate to his musical group, the Clairon Brass.

Memorial gathering on February 1st,  from 9AM until time of mass at 11AM at Crete Funeral Home, 1182 Main Street, Crete, Illinois.    Followed by an Inurnment at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, IL.  Info: (708) 672-7600.

 Rosann Albrecht (nee Swem) age 86, longtime resident of Monee, Illinois passed away on January 14, 2020.    Beloved wife to Ralph; loving mother to Nelson (Cheryl) Albrecht and Brian (Shobana) Albrecht.  Cherished grandmother to Kelly (Michael) Chernick, Julia Albrecht, Nick Albrecht, Vikram Albrecht, Lalitha Albrecht and Kamala Albrecht.  Preceded in death by grandson, Joe Albrecht.    Rosann was a school teacher in Mt. Vernon, IL and volunteered her time in retirement at Monee Elementary School to help students with reading.  Rosann was also an active member of the Homeowners Association for Golf Vista in Monee. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38105.

Alexander Gus Skizas 90, of Bonita Springs, FL died January 8, 2020 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born December 20, 1929 in Chicago, IL a son of the late Gus and late Marie (Wycoff) Skizas. He had been a permanent resident of Bonita Springs since 2016 and a winter resident since 1987 coming from Frankfort, IL.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and a very devout Catholic.
From 1975 to 2004, he owned and operated the Sauk Trail Car Wash in South Chicago Heights, IL. After selling the car wash in Illinois, he purchased the Calypso Car Wash and Quick Lube in Naples, FL and is still operated by the family today.  He is survived by his four children, Ken Skizas (Rachel) of Bonita Springs, FL, Rick Skizas (Bev) of Naples, FL, Judy Huff (Steve) of Dyer, IN and Debbie Vernon (the late William) of Aurora, IL; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Evelyn Skizas who died January 18, 2007 and two brothers, George and James Skizas.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Steger Funeral Home 125 East 34th St., Steger, IL. Harold Beenes, 92, of Quincy, Illinois passed away on Jan 9, 2020.  Harold was born July 3, 1927, in Chicago, IL, the son of Arend and Jennie (Bogard) Beenes.  He married Adeline Weglarz in 1946, in Chicago.  She preceded him in death in 2008.  Harold served in the United States Army during World War II, and he was a firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department until his retirement in 1980.  While Harold enjoyed cheering on his selected picks to win horse races especially the Kentucky Derby, as well as playing video poker and he loved spending time with his family.  Devoted father to David (Nancy) and the late Cheri Pasquarella.  Cherished PaPa to Raylene, Grandpa to Scott and Kimberly, and Greatpapa to Gregory.  Loving brother to Betty, the late Gertrude, and the late Johanna.  Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Campbell, Marilyn (nee Davis)

Heaven gained a beautiful angel on December 29, 2019 with the passing of Marilyn (Davis) Campbell who has peacefully gone home to the Lord.  She was born in Chicago Heights on August 13, 1931.  Marilyn is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years Mert Campbell and three of her six children – Joan Mezewich, Randy and Roger Campbell.  She leaves behind a daughter Nancy (John) Lucas and two sons Ross (Annie) and Rick (Sheila) Campbell; 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and her brother Emerson Davis to mourn her loss.  Our matriarch Marilyn was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
